July 9, 2001 PARTNERS IN MOTION LAUNCHES NEW PROGRAM SLATE Ron Goetz, CEO of Partners in Motion announced today the company's production slate for the next year. In all over 20 hours have been confirmed with an additional 20 hours still to finalize over the next few weeks. Leading the way is the series Disasters of the Century, a non-fiction series that reviews the greatest disasters of the last century and is currently in production. The series is anticipated to begin airing in January 2002, and is being produced in English and French. The program broadcast partners are SCN, History Television, Canal D, and Reality TV from Europe. Additional financing has been provided by SaskFILM and the CanWest Western Independent Producers Fund. The series currently has a crew that has been in Europe for 6 weeks with another crew preparing for departure for New Zealand and Japan in early August. The series is being produced by Nova Herman and directed by Chris Triffo. Partners in Motion has also committed to the series Very Odd Jobs, a 26-part non-fiction series that explores some of the most unusual jobs throughout the world. The series is also expected to be ready by early 2002. Current broadcast partners are SCN and the Canadian Learning Channel (CLT), with development support by CTV Saskatchewan and SaskFILM. This series is being produced by Paul Millar. The final instalment of Voices of War-Korea has also started production. This episode looks at the men and women who served in the Korean War, and allows the veterans who have served in armed conflict to tell of their experiences, in their own words. This episode will air on History Television this fall and also on SCN. Vietnam, Canada's Unkown War is also in development and will go into production also this fall with SCN, and History Television being the Canadian broadcasters. Other projects now in development include the biographical documentary Back to Everest: The Dave Rodney Story, Ordinary People, a documentary series featuring ordinary people now living extra-ordinary lives, and Fire in the Soul, a documentary that take a lighter look at those who dedicate thousands of dollars, and their lives to winning the coveted title of "Grand Champion" at barbeque competitions around the world. In addition to these projects, Partners in Motion is currently in negotiations to co-produce or distribute another 20 hours of productions currently in development, with announcements expected shortly. |
