CBS Chello Zone UK Channels Secure New Deals

CBS Reality +1 launches on Freesat today as programming is acquired for the channel

London, 19 October 2010: Chello Zone and CBS Studios International today announce a new carriage deal for timeshift channel CBS Reality +1 and the acquisition of programming from Harmony Entertainment for the channel.

CBS Reality +1 will be carried from today on Freesat channel 136. The one hour timeshift channel of CBS Reality is inspired by real life drama, crime, the bizarre and the unexplained, airing popular programmes including Jerry Springer, Judge Judy, Cops and Bondi Rescue. The move means the platform now broadcasts all six channels from the CBS Chello Zone UK Channels portfolio: CBS Reality, CBS Reality +1, CBS Drama, CBS Action, Horror Channel and Horror Channel +1.

CBS Chello Zone UK Channels is a portfolio of six UK entertainment channels owned by the joint venture established in October 2009 between CBS Studios International and Chello Zone.

Today Chello Zone also announces that it has acquired season 8 of the hit crime documentary series, Crime Stories forCBS Reality and for Zone Reality, the channel owned by Chello Zone which broadcasts to 100 countries across the EMEA region.

Crime Stories, from season 1 through to the new season 8, was acquired from Canadian distribution company Harmony Entertainment and is regularly one of the strongest performing prime-time shows on the channels.  Over the course of the dramatic series, viewers are taken behind the scenes with those who get up close and personal with criminal investigations.  Along with police officers, the family and friends of the victims, defence lawyers and prosecutors, they share their recollections of the crimes and their consequences. These first-hand accounts, coupled with remarkable re-enactments, news footage, clippings and photographs paint a comprehensive picture of the grim truth.
