Kent State SymposiumChris Triffo, President of Partners in Motion and Director of the Emmy Award-winning
documentary, Thirteen Seconds: The Kent Sate Shootings, will be a Featured
Speaker at the Kent State University’s Annual Symposium on Democracy.
Triffo’s presentation is titled “The Documentary Filmmaker: Darwinian History.” He
will be speaking on how current events are filtered, thus manipulating reality and
altering history.
Established in 2000 as part of the university's commemoration of the events of May 4, 1970, Kent State hosts an annual symposium on democracy in an effort to learn from the past some important lessons for the future. On May 4 and 5, 2009, Kent State University will convene its 10th Symposium on Democracy. Each symposium explores a “critical question for our democratic society,” in the hope that “democracy can lead to a more peaceful world.” This year’s symposium, “Re-membering: Framing, Embracing, Revising History,” will explore questions of how a society remembers and writes its history.
