PARTNERS IN MOTION AND SINGLE SPARK PICTURES INTERVIEW YASSER ARAFAT

Partners in Motion a Regina-based production company, and Single Spark Pictures of New York are pleased to announce that its crew returned safely from Ramallah in the West Bank late Sunday evening after completing an exclusive, on-camera interview with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat. The production team has now completed the first challenging stage of development in the co-production of a documentary that revolves around the life of Yasser Arafat, the current leader of the Palestinian Liberation Authority and Nobel Peace Prize recipient.

After several attempts since December 2001, producer Paul Millar of Partners in Motion, Director/Producer Mark Mori, producer Steven Donziger and consultant Maureen Meehan traveled to Ramallah in early March to meet with President Arafat. Upon clearing several Israeli security check points to enter Ramallah from Jerusalem, the crew was granted the opportunity to interview Mr. Arafat and other key members of the Palestinian leadership between March 2nd and March 9th of this year. The production will entail more trips to the Middle East in the near future to conduct interviews with other key individuals associated with Mr. Arafat.

The documentary called, In the Eye of the Storm, is co-produced with financial assistance from Regina-based Harmony Entertainment Management. In addition to providing bridge financing for the project, Harmony Entertainment Management is currently seeking out distribution opportunities with broadcasters. Ron Goetz, Executive Producer for In the Eye of the Storm and CEO of Partners in Motion, said

"It is a unique and intriguing opportunity for Partners in Motion to be involved in a production that features such a key player in international events. Our goal is to produce a documentary that will help the viewer understand more clearly why the Israelis and Palestinians are in conflict, and one of the most important figures who for five decades has been at the centre of the controversy."

Other current funding support from Saskatchewan comes from SCN and SaskFilm. David Debono, President and CEO of SCN said,

"SCN is thrilled to see Partners in Motion once again working on a story of such high calibre," Valerie Creighton, CEO and Film Commissioner of SaskFilm also commented that, "SaskFilm is pleased to have been able to support this project. This captivating story is not only timely but meets the objectives of SaskFilm to support strong creative projects with universal and international appeal that originate in Saskatchewan."

Partners in Motion and Single Spark Pictures co-produced the Emmy Award winning, 13 Seconds: The Kent State Shootings for The Learning Channel and History Television. Mark Mori of Single Spark Pictures and Ron Goetz of Partners in Motion acted as Executive Producer and Producer respectively with, Partners in Motion's Chris Triffo acting as director for the production.
