FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Regina, SK—The Re-Inventors – Canadians Matt Hunter and Jeremy MacPherson – explore history’s most bizarre inventions and the people who came up with the ideas in a new original series premiering Saturday, April 7 at 6 p.m. EST on History Television. Each episode features the duo looking back at how world events triggered the creative juices in inventors of the day. They then take it one step further by attempting to “reinvent” these well-intentioned but long forgotten patents to see if they really can work. Matt and Jeremy sift through thousands of patents, retreat to their workshop, then hit the streets in their Mobile Testing Unit to try out a wide range of unusual inventions, including:

The Re-Inventors: Flying Car Saturday, April 7 at 6 pm ET/PT With the advent and spread of airplanes and automobiles in the beginning of the 20th century, an idea emerged that a marriage of the two would create the ultimate travel vehicle for the average person. Is it feasible or even possible to create a flying car the average person could afford? Join the Re-Inventors as they look at the options and even construct one to see if it would work.

The Re-Inventors: Floatation Suit Saturday, April 14 at 6 pm ET/PT Drowning has always been a peril of sea travel. Over the years, numerous inventions have been created to address this problem, including shoes to walk on water, pedalpowered buoys, and a survival suit that doubled as a suitcase. The Re-Inventors will build and test some of these unorthodox inventions from the late 19th and early 20th centuries to see for themselves if these devices would have saved the life of a shipwrecked person.

The Re-Inventors: Head Parachute Saturday, April 21 at 6 pm ET/PT Getting people out of a burning building has been a challenge faced by inventors and designers since people started living in them. And some inventors have come up with much more creative solutions than others. Watch as the Re-Inventors build and test some of the alternative solutions to escaping a burning building: would strapping a parachute to your head and jumping from a window actually increase your chance of survival?
